Guns

In order for  one to  protect themselves against criminals, one may or may not resort to guns. Is it safe to own a gun and at what point are you to use it when in the face of danger?. Is it healthy to leave a gun in a safe, under a mattress, or in the possession of a friend?. They could turn out to be the very  reason why you are a gun violent savage...

How does one get a gun and what are the procedures to be followed to get a gun licence?
  • Undergo training at an Accredited Institution and obtain a proficiency training certificate
  • Apply for a firearm licence at your local police station.

The Flood

I came across this book by Roger few and thought it was a good read. Read below:

In July 2004 as a group of experts on various aspects on flooding and haelth assembled for a international workshop in Norwhich, Uk waters from several rivers swollen by heavy monsoon rains were spilling across the floodplains of Bangledesh. The excess rainfall had already brought catastrophic flooding to neighbouring parts of India and now proceeded to bring an unprecedented depth of flood water across much of  central and north east Bangledesh.During the course of the next three months an estimated 36 million people were displaced from their homes, lost possession and livestock, struggled to maintain a livelihood while their dwellings and communities were inundated or were otherwise  affected by this enormous flood event.Floods continued to make the international news headlines throughout the process of  preparing this book the catastrophic events reported for example from Haiti, India, China and the U.S together with the devestating Tsunami that overwhelmed the coastline around the......

Floods

Disaster strikes

The impact of floods are severe, the question is what can you do to  if you involved when a flood occurs? After all water borne diseases such as Leptospirosis, Malaria and Yellow fever  are diseases that can be transmitted in the case of a flood.

When the flood happens......US Department of Homeland Security believes  you should

  • Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
  • Avoid walking or driving through flood waters.
  • Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
  • If there is a chance of flash flooding, move immediately to higher ground. Flash floods are the #1 cause of weather-related deaths in the US.
  • If flood waters rise around your car but the water is not moving, abandon the car and move to higher ground. Do not leave the car and enter moving water.
  • Avoid camping or parking along streams, rivers, and creeks during heavy rainfall. These areas can flood quickly and with little warning.

  • Heres a  guide on what to do after a  flood.... Inside the home

    • "Keep children and pets out of the affected area until cleanup has been completed.
    • Wear rubber boots, rubber gloves, and goggles during cleanup of affected area.
    • Remove and discard items that cannot be washed and disinfected (such as, mattresses, carpeting, carpet padding, rugs, upholstered furniture, cosmetics, stuffed animals, baby toys, pillows, foam-rubber items, books, wall coverings, and most paper products).
    • Remove and discard drywall and insulation that has been contaminated with sewage or flood waters.
    • Thoroughly clean all hard surfaces (such as flooring, concrete, molding, wood and metal furniture, countertops, appliances, sinks, and other plumbing fixtures) with hot water and laundry or dish detergent.
    • Help the drying process by using fans, air conditioning units, and dehumidifiers.
    • After completing the cleanup, wash your hands with soap and warm water. Use water that has been boiled for 1 minute (allow the water to cool before washing your hands).
      • Or you may use water that has been disinfected for personal hygiene use (solution of ⅛ teaspoon [~0.75 milliliters] of household bleach per 1 gallon of water). Let it stand for 30 minutes. If the water is cloudy, use a solution of ¼ teaspoon (~1.5 milliliters) of household bleach per 1 gallon of water.
    • Wash all clothes worn during the cleanup in hot water and detergent. These clothes should be washed separately from uncontaminated clothes and linens.
    • Wash clothes contaminated with flood or sewage water in hot water and detergent. It is recommended that a laundromat be used for washing large quantities of clothes and linens until your onsite waste-water system has been professionally inspected and serviced.
    • Seek immediate medical attention if you become injured or ill."

    Human Population

Everyone is affected by Overpopulation because we all need water and each other in order to survive. Overpopulation can be defined as having too many people in a Country and the resources available are too little to sustain everyone. Overpopulation occurs most in Developing Nations where resources are limited. Since last year (2015)  the African  content  popoulation has grown by 30 million.

    Have
you ever wondered what would happen if no body could move freely from one place to the other?.  The inability to access what you need at a specific time means that you could die, become permanently damaged or even become destroyed when the cause of death is not your fault but the hospitals fault.

I am talking over population where it becomes such a problem to get medicine that you actually have to order online. Imagine waiting five hours for the online system to operate because a Receptionist was busy on her cellphone or the Doctor was out on a picnic the day that you had an emergency, I mean obviously  you are not the only one ordering services physically or online but the life you are trying to protect can slip away as a mere convenient accident.

What if  when you decide to follow your heart and go and physically go and  place your order by  telling the Doctor what is wrong... you find that  you need thorough explanation about what contents are in  pills. You find that  the pills you  are prescribed are the very pills that your grandmother drank 2 hours before she  passed away, worst of all the doctor says there is a possibility of side effects that can occur either now or in the next year. You did ask didn't you?

Finally  after  being given prescribed  medicine, what if  you find that you  have never seen such small brown pills in your life? I mean not that they should be big but um how can 20 pills taken slowly decrease your chance of death?... you finally sit down as your phone rings and your concerned  friend asks you   whether you actually went to the doctor.... you   reply hmmm they told me to wait, the system was slow and  um friend please be patient I got some brown smarties from the doctor yho I paid R300 no ways I am not going back:-)

Overpopulation image as according to Emaze

Overpopulation as a global health problem.

Is it appropriate to dictate to people how many children they should have?

How is overpopulation a problem? Overpopulation causes hunger and makes people unable to cope with the living conditions that are not only meant to  help us but to make sure that people live life to the fullest. According to the World Food Programs  hunger statistics  "795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life" " Poor nutrition causes about 45% of deaths in children under 5". Over popoulation causes for people to not have employment  due to too many people competing for employment and  as a result malnutrition occurs.

Admirable Organisations such as IS Global Barcelona Institute  focus on addressing the challenges of Global health, The Harvard University Global Health Institute has a focus on  investigatons about how to create healthier cities in future and  The World health Organisation has a focus on diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

So what must we do about Over population?
“If all of the world’s people lived like people in the developed countries do, then we would need three or four different globes to support the demand in terms of natural resources. So, sustainability is the word for the whole world,” Mr. Wu told reporters." picture by United Nations News sustainable agenda
    • Delay Marriages-Marrying at a young age means that there will be more children born. It is important to establish first the emotional, physical, mental and materialistic stability of young children before enforcing "forced marriages".

    • Educate people about family planning. There's no better way to improve life then to be educated before important decisions such as having a family is made.

    Family planning is important

Be aware that there are risks involved in having many children see below

Hilary Clintin and Donald Trump debate trumps sexual assault.

    Madu Madavi quote

Lets go back to the basics... Irrespective of the gender of your child you have a role to play as   parent. Overpopulating the world in search of a gender to please your partner might just result in more chaos for you and  dissapointments that might cause you to question your knowledge of basic  Biology. In my view I  believe that overpopulation causes people to suffer,  I do not agree with abortion I believe in being responsible with your actions, if you make a life then stand up for it. what is your view?

On the brighter side of life  I also  believe the saying  "a baby makes love stronger, the days shorter the nights longer, savings smaller and a happier home."

Please do not over populate the world. There are only so many resources to feed everyone.

Employment is important so it would be great if there were enough jobs for everyone. There
are  institutions and organisations in place to address overpopulation, please contact them. There  are steps that can be taken to handle over population and it is important to be aware of  your countries population rates. lastly  live happy and be happy with your families, life is too short to be unhappy.
